Job Title: Assistant Teacher - Summer Camp Program

Location: Count Your Blessings Preschool, Moriarty, NM

Position Overview:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Assistant Teacher to join our team for the summer camp program at our childcare center. The Assistant Teacher will work closely with the Lead Teacher and other staff members to provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children during the summer months. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of young learners while gaining valuable experience in early childhood education.

Responsibilities:

1. Assist the Lead Teacher in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate activities for children ages 6-12 years old in accordance with the summer camp curriculum.

2. Supervise children during indoor and outdoor playtime, ensuring their safety at all times.

3. Support children in participating in educational and recreational activities, including arts and crafts, games, and nature exploration.

4. Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere where all children feel welcome, valued, and supported.

5. Assist with meal and snack times, including serving food and encouraging healthy eating habits.

6. Help maintain a clean and organized classroom environment, including sanitizing toys and surfaces regularly.

7. Communicate effectively with management and caregivers regarding the children's daily activities, progress, and any concerns that may arise.

8. Collaborate with other staff members to evaluate and improve the summer camp program based on observations and feedback.

Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework or degree in early childhood education or related field preferred.

2. Previous experience working with children in a childcare, camp, or educational setting.

3. Knowledge of child development principles and best practices in early childhood education.

4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with children, parents, and colleagues.

5. Patience, flexibility, and a genuine passion for working with young children.

6. CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hiring).

7. Ability to pass a background check.

Additional Information:

- This is a temporary position for the duration of the summer camp program, with the possibility of extension based on performance and program needs.

- Hours may vary but typically range from 32-40 hours per week.

- Training and ongoing professional development opportunities will be provided.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week
